Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak Was Criticized For Participating In The Action Of Rohingya Solidarity In Today's Memory, December 4, 2016
JAKARTA Memories of today, eight years ago, December 4, 2016, the Prime Minister (PM), Najib Razak was criticized by the whole of Malaysia for participating in the Rohingya solidarity action. The criticism was directed because Najib was a policy maker who should have taken action, not take action.
Previously, the military junta government had not wanted the Rohingya people to live on Myanmar's land for a long time. Their actions committed genocide to the Rohingya ethnicity shocked the world. The world then condemned Myanmar's actions.
No one wants to live as an ethnicity that is not recognized by the state. The Rohingya people do too. They have lived for generations Rakhine actually felt injustice. The majority of ethnicity in Myanmar, Burma, does not want to admit them.
The ethnic one with the majority of Buddhists does not want the presence of Rohingya, the majority of whom are Muslim. The Myanmar government does not want to lose. The power-owner officially declared the Rohingya people non-national in 1982. Alias is not recognized as a race in Myanmar.
The problem went wide everywhere. Racial sentiment surfaced. The Rohingya people began to feel nestapa. They were threatened. They are also often persecuted. The point is that there is no justice for the Rohingya people so that life is forced to be shrouded in fear.
Those who are not strong try to find their own way out. The option of escaping became the most popular. Rohingya people began fleeing to several other Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia to Indonesia in 2013. The Myanmar government let it go.
The Myanmar government's actions have become increasingly reckless since October 2016. They considered the existence of a rebel movement in Rakhine. This reason is their justification for committing genocide against the Rohingya ethnicity. Parents to children became victims of the genocide that lasted until early 2017.
For years, the Rohingya people have faced widespread persecution by the Myanmar military, which has led many people to refugee camps. The Myanmar government limits their access to education and health services.
"Most of them have their citizenship revoked. Even though Rakhine is their home," explained Hana live in her writing on The New York Times page entitled Rohingya Crisis Could Have Been Handled Better, Aung San Suu Kyi Says(2018).
The world has been busy criticizing the actions of the Myanmar government. The Malaysian people did not want to lose. They held a massive Rohingya solidarity action in Kuala Lumpur on December 4, 2016. The action was also visited by state celebrities.
In fact, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak joined as a mass of action. Instead of getting a lively welcome, Najib was actually flooded with criticism. Najib is considered not to understand his function as PM.
Najib should have been able to make a breakthrough by cutting diplomatic relations with Myanmar or a series of other actions. However, the thing that chose Najib actually took to the streets. The Malaysian people were surprised because they took action to the streets to force the Malaysian government to take firm action. If the government participates in demonstrations, then no one will take action.
"If we rule, my proposal is to cut diplomatic relations to show our disapproval of the treatment experienced by Rohingya. When he (Najib) served as PM, he went to demonstrations. Who did he protest?" said former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad criticizing Najib as quoted by the BBC website, December 4, 2016.
