Residents Who Accompanied 2 Elderly To Undergo COVID-19 Vaccination In DKI Can Also Get Vaccinated

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Health Office provides COVID-19 vaccination facilities to residents who drive two elderly people to undergo vaccination in this phase II of the vaccination program.

Head of DKI Public Health Office (Dinkes) Widyastuti said that although not included in the priority category, non-elderly people over the age of 18 who accompanied two elderly people were given vaccination so that immunization to the elderly can be accelerated.

"This is done as an effort to facilitate access to vaccination for all people both elderly and non-elderly in Jakarta, as well as the government's commitment in efforts to increase community immunity (herd immunity) during the pandemic", Widyastuti said in his statement, Monday, April 12.

Widyastuti said that the elderly are among the groups at risk of having more severe symptoms when contracting COVID-19. Because, many elderly people have comorbid diseases.

During the second phase of priority vaccination programs, the elderly are among the groups that find it difficult to be vaccinated, given their vulnerable health conditions.

Therefore, the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta wants more productive citizens to help the elderly follow the vaccination program by giving vaccination to them.

"This is expected to facilitate the elderly during the vaccination process. Because the list is online, the elderly definitely need a companion to help technical implementation. In addition, we also continue to strive to accelerate the target of fulfilling vaccinations for the elderly", she explained.

As of April 11, 2021, the first dose of vaccinations has been given to 526.687 seniors (57.8 percent) and the second dose of vaccinations includes 173.234 seniors (19.0 percent), with a vaccination target of 911.631 seniors.

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta also provides shuttle transportation facilities for elderly residents, in the form of school buses and Transjakarta buses for a number of areas in need due to the location of vaccinations that are quite far away.

People who are about to undergo the vaccination can register online via the dki.kemenkes.go.id link.

For those with DKI Jakarta ID cards can immediately come and register vaccination to all health facilities in Jakarta. Meanwhile, people with ID cards outside Jakarta can visit vaccination sites in Istora and Tennis Indoor in Senayan.
