Death Toll From Armed Group Attacks In Pakistan Increases To 38 People
JAKARTA - The total number of victims killed in an armed group attack on a convoy of passenger vans in Pakistan has increased to 38 people.
Secretary of the head of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadiem Aslam Chaudhry, said 29 other people were injured.
"This is a big tragedy and the death toll is likely to rise," Chaudhry said.
There were two convoys of passenger vehicles when the armed group attacked. One van took passengers from Peshawar to Parachinar and another from Parachinar to Peshawar.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, in his statement, strongly condemned the attack on passenger vehicles.

Tensions have been going on for decades between Shia and Sunni armed groups over land disputes in ethnic areas bordering Afghanistan.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
