Russia Plans To Deepen Law Enforcement And Security Cooperation With China

JAKARTA - Russia will deepen cooperation with China in law enforcement and security, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said in a meeting with Chen Wenqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission.

Shoigu and Chen held a meeting on the sidelines of the 9th round of Russia-China consultations on public security, justice and law enforcement on Wednesday morning in the Bamboo Curtain country.

"The security and law enforcement agencies of our two countries maintain very intensive cooperation. And we are committed to deepening cooperation in law enforcement and security," Shoigu said, launching TASS November 13.

Russia, Shoigu said, is trying to consolidate efforts to combat international extremism, terrorism, and transnational crime both bilaterally and multilaterally.

"Our bilateral relationship has become a key element in global politics and security as well as a major stabilizer factor in international affairs," Shoigu added.

It is known that Shoigu arrived in Beijing, China for a working visit on Monday, quoted from Interfax. He has an agenda meeting with a number of top Chinese officials.

The main agenda is to attend the 19th round of China-Russia annual strategic security consultations as well as the ninth meeting of China-Russia law enforcement and security cooperation mechanisms, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Monday, quoted from the Global Times.
