The Sapuan-Wasri Paslon Campaign Was Stopped By KPU-Bawaslu Mukomuko, DPRD: Don't Be Healing

JAKARTA - The KPU and Bawaslu decided to stop campaign activities for the incumbent regent and deputy regent Mukomuko, Sapuan-Wasri. The decision was because the candidate pair did not have a leave permit.

Chairman of the Mukomuko Regency DPRD, Bengkulu Province Zamhari appealed to local residents to remain calm in responding to the decision.

"Don't let this problem heat up, if you can, this election is safe, if the campaign can't be a matter for the KPU, if it's November 27, 2024, all candidate pairs can participate," he said at Mukomuko, Bengkulu, Wednesday, November 13.

He said this after the KPU of Mukomuko Regency issued a letter of termination of all campaign activities for the Sapuan-Wasri candidate.

KPU Mukomuko issued the letter to implement the Bawaslu recommendation. In the Bawaslu recommendation, one of the candidate pairs is no longer allowed to carry out the campaign before the leave permit is issued.

He said, based on his monitoring, after the letter was published there was a slight chaos in the community, especially since the couple was not allowed to participate in the regional election debate in Bengkulu City.

For this reason, he said, as the head of the legislature, he certainly hoped that the 2024 Mukomuko Pilkada could run smoothly and safely without any problems.

He suggested that related to the Pilkada, the implementation should be submitted to the KPU because the general election for once every five years is a matter for the KPU and Bawaslu.

Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of Mukomuko Regency, Misbahul Amri, when contacted from Mukomuko, Saturday, said that there were four pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent in the 2024 Mukomuko Pilkada.

Four pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent Mukomuko, namely the Edwar Setiawan and Ruslan pair promoted by the PAN Party, PDI Perjuangan, and the Gerindra Party.

Then, the Sapuan-Wasri (NasDem Party, Perindo Party, and Democrat Party), the Renjes-Rismanaji (PKB, PPP, and Hanura Party) pair, and the Choirul Huda-Rahmadi pair are supported by the Golkar Party.
