Today's Memory, November 5, 2016: The Burst Of 411 Actions For Islamic Defenses Spreads To Malaysia

JAKARTA Memories of today, eight years ago, October 5, 2016, the 411 Action initiated by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) in Jakarta was excited in Malaysia. The excitement arose because the majority of the mass media reported the act of defending Islam in the neighboring country.

Previously, the action of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), took the verse of the Quran to be a polemic. Ahok revealed to Jakarta residents not to be lied to by Al Maidah 51 letter. This statement raises criticism from everywhere, including Muslims in Malaysia.

The hot pressure for the 2017 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election has emerged since 2016. The emergence of two strong candidates for the cagub Ahok and Anies Baswedan is the estuary. Other candidates do exist, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), but they are not counted.

Many people predict Ahok against Anies will be fierce. Both of them will use the engine of a big party to capture the voices of Jakarta residents. Sometimes Anies sympathizers act far away. Identity politics was played. Ahok got sad.

Identity politics rejects non-Muslim leaders. Ahok was furious with the presence of the campaign. He then tried to remind Jakarta residents in the Thousand Islands that they should not be lied to by the letter Al Maidah 51.

The comment raises two perceptions. Al Maidah's first view lies with the public. The second view leads to Al Maidah users who deceive the public. The first perception is what spreads a lot.

This condition made criticism to Ahok everywhere. Gelora wants Ahok to be detained and keep popping up. Muslims also tried to pressure the government by holding an Action on October 4, 2016.

The action of Defense Islam, known as 411, invites all Muslims in Indonesia to move to defend their religion. The Islamic Organization of FPI also emerged as one of the initiators. This condition made the Indonesian Ulema Council then Muhammadiyah considered it reasonable to protest. They did not prohibit their members from participating in the 411 Action.

"If President Joko Widodo does not prohibit, then the MUI will even prohibit it. We have given an appeal, just remain calm and don't be provoked. The President said he had ordered (the police) to process (the alleged blasphemy)".

"And we agree with the President, because the issue of Ahok's words in the Thousand Islands is no longer proportional, out of context, and creates a disturbing frenzy. This needs to be processed with respect and proportionality," said MUI Chairman Ma'ruf Amin as quoted on the tempo.co page, November 2, 2016.

The 411 action took place with a commotion. The crowd of action began to arrive one by one to fill Sudirman Street, Thamrin, until the Monas area on November 4, 2016. Hundreds of thousands of people who came made Jakarta a human sea. Opponents of religious blasphemy are the main ones.

In fact, the action was not only a scene in the country. Malaysia, which incidentally is a neighboring country, did not forget to express its enthusiasm. They shared their joy to see Muslims unite to defend their religion.

Launching ANTARA, the mass media 'print and cyber media' in Malaysia were busy rumoring that they were defending Islam on November 5, 2016. The daily Malaysian Envoy, The Sun, Harian Kosmo, and the New Straits Times did not want to be left behind.

The action to defend Islam 411 became the main topic. In fact, Daily News contains two special pages of Action 411 reports. Muslims unite against religious blasphemers as important points of news. They also took the view of former Indonesian badminton athlete Icuk Sugiarto who took part in the 411 Action.

"I am accompanying this demonstration because of the interests of conscience as a Muslim. I cannot accept it if my religion is insulted," said Icuk Sugiarto in the Daily News quoted by the ANTARA page, November 5, 2016.
