Fire At The British Nuclear Submarineyard, 2 Hospitalized

JAKARTA - Two people were hospitalized for smoke after a fire at a nuclear submarineyard in Cumbria, northwest of England on Wednesday (30/10) in the early hours of the morning.

The fire at BAE Systems in far-in-Fuwas reported to have occurred at around 00.44 a.m. (October 30) and is still ongoing, the Cumbria police said.

Local police stated there was no nuclear risk, but local residents were asked to stay indoors during the emergency services, and close doors and windows.

The Cumbria police statement added that there were no casualties in the fire but two people had to be taken to the hospital due to inhaling smoke.

A report from Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), a self-help organization based in London, earlier this year highlighted BAE Systems' global reach, Britain's largest arms manufacturer.

A report titled How BAE Systems Helped Arm Half the World highlighted concerns regarding the sale of the company's weapons to countries accused of violating human rights and committing corruption.

An important part in this report is BAE Systems' relationship with Israel.

The report highlights the company's role in a consortium that supplies F-35 fighter jets to Israel, which is used in the Zionist regime's military genocide action in Gaza.

BAE Systems facilities across the UK have been targeted by various protests.
