Samsung Wants To Throw The 'Galaxy' Brand Out Of Premium Phones

JAKARTA Samsung, a South Korean manufacturer of mobile phones and electronic devices, will present a new brand for its Android-based smartphone. This phone will replace the Galaxy brand.

Based on the Korean media report E-Today, Samsung is exploring a new brand for premium class phones. So far, premium phones like Fold and Flip or S series are still using the Galaxy brand. In the future, this brand will be replaced.

Earlier this year, Samsung's Lee Young-hee said that they have many lines of products with the Galaxy brand, from cell phones to tablets. According to his statement, many parties are already waiting for an innovative new name.

"Galaxy has so many product ranks that I understand that people expect new names when there is an innovative turning point," Young-hee explained.

The Galaxy brand has been in use for almost two decades so its name is quite iconic. When people hear the term Galaxy, people may immediately think about Samsung's smart phone or its increasingly sophisticated tablet.

However, Samsung realizes that the market continues to change and they must continue to compete with other brands, such as iPhones, for example. Phone competition in the US is also still difficult because Apple is still superior so that the exploration of new brands may be one of the options to develop.

Although there are plans to add a new brand, it is not yet known when they will be officially used. To date, there has been no leaked names for Samsung's latest premium phone brand.
