Coordinating Minister AHY: The Spirit Of The Task Force To Lower Airline Ticket Prices For Public Ease

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) expressed the spirit of the task force (Satgas) to reduce aircraft ticket prices for convenience and economic value for the community.

"Of course the spirit is that there was a ticket (airplane) reduction task force, indeed we will certainly continue to manage it. After all, this is what I convey, convenience, comfort and also economic value for the community, we also prioritize," AHY said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 30, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, if the economy in the regions wants to be more advanced and grow, the cost of transportation must be more efficient.

"Because if we want the economy to be more advanced, grow more in various regions, transportation includes the costs of someone from and to an area, including goods, must be more efficient," he said.

AHY also said that the transportation costs that were too high could affect not only mobility, but also productivity.

"Because if it is still too high, now this will greatly affect not only movement but also productivity. Here, of course, we will guard it in the future," he said.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, said that he was still waiting from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomian) regarding the results of the aircraft ticket price reduction task force.

"As far as I know it is coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, later we will wait from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy to convey the results of the task force. We are still waiting," said Dudy.

He hopes that the results of the task force for reducing the price of aircraft tickets can be obtained before Christmas and New Year.

"I hope that before Christmas and New Year we can get the results from the task force," he said.

For information, Research Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies (Pustral) Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Dwi Ardianta Kurniawan supports the implementation of the avtur supply multiprovider (non-politic) system to reduce the high price of airplane tickets.

Dwi Ardianta said the multiprovider system previously proposed by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) would prevent the practice of avtur sales monopoly in Indonesia.

The high price of domestic flight tickets is caused by a number of factors, such as aviation fuel prices, aircraft spare parts import taxes, and Value Added Tax (VAT).
