Passenger Disrupts, MRT Jakarta Stops Pound Fit Sports At Stations

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta has stopped sports activities that combine aerobics and yoga movements and use tools such as sticks and music (pound fit) at stations following the response of some people who think these activities can disrupt users of the mass transportation system (MRT).

Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Ahmad Pratomo said the response from the public was an evaluation point in reviewing activities in the MRT (MassRapid Transit) Jakarta area so that it did not disturb the convenience of users.

"Until the evaluation results are complete, the pool fit at the station will be stopped," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.

Ahmad said that in principle, MRT Jakarta supports the implementation of community activities in public spaces, both in the form of community activities, entertainment, health, education, and others as long as they do not violate applicable regulations and norms.

"MRT Jakarta would like to thank the attention and suggestions from the public in connection with the response to the sound fit in the MRT Jakarta area," he said.

Previously, a video circulated on social media X on Monday (21/10) showing a group of people exercising sound fit in the MRT station area.

Some netizens argue that this activity disrupts the comfort of MRT users and questions the reason why the manager can allow it to be held in public facilities. They then asked the manager to reconsider the sound fit activities in the station area.

The pound fit is known to be a cardio sport that usually uses music. Pound fit exercises are designed to increase strength, cardiovascular, and agility, while also providing opportunities for expression through music.

This type of sport is said to be quite popular in recent times because it can burn up to 900 calories.
