Expert Urges Prabowo's Government To Create PDP Institutions As Soon As Possible
JAKARTA - After the enactment of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP) on October 17, 2024, the government admitted that it was still working on institutions, RPP, and the derivative Perpres of the law.
Seeing the urgency of the PDP institution and its derivative regulations, the Chairman of the Cyber Security Research Institute (CISSReC) Pratama Persadha encouraged the new government under the leadership of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to give his concern to this law.
Because according to Pratama, so far, if there is a data violation experienced by the private sector or the government, there is no transparency or classification directly from the guilty party.
"Seeing that there has never been any clarification of the data leak that has occurred so far, it may be necessary to be deployed by an independent audit team to conduct audits and digital forensics because it is impossible for the state audit team such as BSSN, Kominfo, Cyber Crime Police to find nothing during audits and forensics," Pratama said in a statement received on Sunday, October 20.
Thus, the absence of reports to the public is exacerbated by the absence of the PDP Organizing Institution which is tasked with overseeing the sustainability of Personal Data and imposing sanctions.
Pratama also said that the absence of a PDP Organizing Institution that could impose these sanctions would make companies or organizations experiencing personal data leaks as if they were ignoring cybersecurity incidents.

"In fact, they also did not publish reports related to the incident even though it violated Article 46 paragraph 1 which was mandated in Law No. 27 of 2022 concerning Protection of Personal Data," he continued.
With all the things that are happening today, Pratama sees the government as less concerned about the urgency of the PDP institution and its derivative regulations. And he hopes that Prabowo's new government can show its concern regarding public data security.
