PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk received a new contract worth IDR 233.5 billion to work on the rehabilitation project for the Cibaliung irrigation area in Cieukesik District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten.

The signing of the contract was carried out by the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of Irrigation and Rawa II Hanif Wasistono with the Official Representative of Operational Cooperation (KSO) Hansol-Waskita Kim Sang Chun in Serang, Banten, Friday, October 18.

Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita said this rehabilitation aims to improve the condition of the irrigation network so that it can function optimally in distributing water to agricultural land, thereby increasing agricultural productivity.

The rehabilitation, he said, not only improves irrigation canals, but also increases their capacity and encourages community involvement in their management.

In addition, this activity also allows the expansion of the planting area.

"So it is hoped that this rehabilitation can have an impact on increasing agricultural productivity in Banten, especially in Pandeglang Regency. This is in line with the government's program to strengthen community food barns," said Ermy as quoted by ANTARA, Friday.

According to Ermy, Waskita will rehabilitate two main primary channels, namely the Cibaliung right primary channel with a length of 24,326 meters and the Cibaliung left primary channel with a length of 7,313.6 meters.

In addition, four secondary channels will also be repaired, namely Umbulan channels (6,236 m), Leuwi Gede (1,650 m), Sumur Batu (1,765 m), and Wunubera (3,895 m).

Not only that, the Cijambu disposal channel along 5,201.7 meters will also be rehabilitated.

Ermy said the project would be carried out for 24 months, while the maintenance period after the project was completed was 365 calendar days.

Previously, Waskita Karya had worked on several irrigation network rehabilitation projects, including the Ciliman irrigation network in Banten, the Citarum River in West Java, and the Peterongan Mrican irrigation area in East Java.
