Google Maps Will Eliminate Weather Widgets From Map View

JAKARTA Since the beginning of this year, Google Maps has displayed a small element containing temperature indexes, weather conditions, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the upper right corner of the screen. However, in the near future, this element will disappear.

Reporting from 9to5google, this feature is not completely removed. Google only moves its elements to other parts. This weather gadget will be removed from the display of the map and raised to a sheet that reads 'Recently in the Area'.

When clicking any place or area, this sheet will change its name according to the name of the place, city, or environment. At the top of the sheet, users will see widgets with the same content, namely temperature, weather, and AQI.

In addition to moving the weather widget, Google has also changed the appearance of the sheet by reducing the number of tabs. Previously, the tabs on the sheet included Exploration, Go, Save, Contribution, and Update, but now the tabs are only three.

Google only displays Exploration, You, and Contribution features. Weather gadgets will be visible at the top of the tab without the need to pull the window up. Although not a big change, this change is unfortunate because the weather widget is not as clear as before.

Weather gadgets on the map layer look much easier because users can directly see the temperature forecast and the weather when clicking on certain locations. The reason is, the sheets at the bottom can shrink and cover the widget.

For now, users can still see their widget in their Google Maps because the changes are not yet available in the stable version. Google is still testing its changes in the beta channel with version 11,151.x.
