NASA Forms A Special Team To Review Mars Sample Return Mission Study

JAKARTA NASA is forming a new team to review all strategies related to the Mars Sample Return (MSR) program. The team will assess dozens of studies from the NASA community and selected industries.

NASA administrator Bill Nelson said that the MSR program was not easy to do so they needed the right opinions and ideas. However, the plan remains simple, namely launching rockets from Mars to bring samples to Earth.

"It is imperative that the Return of Martian Samples be carried out in a cost-effective and efficient manner, and we look forward to learning recommendations from the strategy review team to achieve our goals in the interests of mankind," Nelson said.

The MSR Strategic Review Team was formed through the contract of Cornell Technical Services. The team will be led by NASA's former Administrator, Jim Bridenstine, and consists of seven members, two are workers at NASA and five are scientists from various universities.

After assessing dozens of studies, the team will recommend a major architecture for the MSR program. The MSR Strategic Review Team will make estimated launch costs and schedules tailored to the reduction in costs, risks, and complexity of the mission.

While carrying out its duties, the MSR Strategic Review team will cooperate with NASA's analysis team consisting of government employees and expert consultants. This team will provide input on programs recommended by strategy reviewers.

NASA's Analysis Team has more members. The team is led by NASA's Head of Program Management Officer, David Mitchell, and its members consisting of engineers, workers in control analysis, technical advisors, and much more.
