Intel, AMD, And A Number Of Technology Companies Join The X86 Ecosystem Advisory Group

JAKARTA Intel and AMD set up an advisory group for the x86 ecosystem to build a better future of computing architecture. The group was officially announced to the public on October 15 in Washington.

There are several major tech companies that have joined as founding members of the group, including Broadcom, Dell, Google, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HP Inc., Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, and Red Hat.

With the joining of the entire big company, this advisory group will look for new ways to expand the x86 ecosystem, such as simplifying software development or providing platforms for developers.

Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, said that this group will ensure the development of the x86 architecture. Although it has been used as a computational basis for more than four decades, x86 will certainly continue to be the choice of developers and customers.

"We are delighted to be able to unite the industry to provide direction on future architectural improvements and expand the extraordinary success of x86 over the coming decades," said Lisa Su, quoted from her official website.

The group is targeting three results in the near future. An ecosystem advisor of x86 wants to increase options and compatibility across hardware and software and accelerate the presence of new and up-to-date features.

Intel, AMD, as well as other founding members also want to simplify architectural guidelines. These guidelines will be used to improve software consistency and standardize interfaces across offerings of x86 products from Intel and AMD.

Finally, the x86 ecosystem advisory group wants to integrate new capabilities that are greater and more efficient into operating systems, frameworks, and applications.
