Death Toll In Gaza Reaches 42,344, UNICEF Says There Is No Safe Place For Children

JAKARTA - The UN agency for UNICEF children stressed the need to end violence against children in the Gaza Strip, stating there is no "safe place" for them in the Palestinian enclave, as the death toll from Israel's military campaign continues to grow.

It was conveyed in an upload on X about the bombing of refugee tents by Israeli troops in the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Syuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, the central Gaza Strip.

"Today, our screen is once again filled with terrible reports about children being killed, burned, and families leaving the tents that were bombed in Gaza. This should have shocked the world to its roots," the organization said., reported from WAFA October 16.

"The attack on shelters in Deir al-Balah and at al-Aqsa hospitals, which reportedly killed 15 children, proves once again that there is no safe place in Gaza," UNICEF said.

"Disgraceful violence against these children must end now," he said.

Israel's ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip for a year has left more than 140,000 people killed and injured, and more than 10,000 people missing, amid massive destruction and hunger that has killed dozens of children and their parents.

Separately, health authorities in Gaza reported on Tuesday that Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks since the latest conflict broke out on October 7, 2023, had reached 42,344 and 99,013 others injured, with the majority of victims being women and children, as quoted by WAFA.
