Honda Launches 2 Electric Motors At Once, Here's Yamaha's Response

JAKARTA - Not long ago PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) increased its electric motor lineup, by launching two new models, namely ICON e: and CUV e:

Thus, the total number of electric motors from Honda is increasing, the launch of the two models is also a form of Honda's commitment to answer the needs of the community, in the midst of the growing electric motorcycle market.

Another Japanese producer, Yamaha, has also developed an electric motorcycle in Indonesia, but until now there is still no certainty regarding its launch. Responding to the presence of a new electric motorcycle from Honda, Yamaha also commented.

"Basically Yamaha is also taking this electrification issue very seriously," said Deputy Director of PT YIMM Takaaki Kalaya, when met in the Jakarta area, some time ago.

Indeed, Yamaha had brought the E01 and Neo's electric motorcycle models and the Japanese brands had previously carried out the Proof of Concept (POC) project, to measure the extent to which the electric motorcycle was prepared to be marketed in Indonesia on the E01 model.

In the project, Yamaha targets for one year with 4 thousand people trying out electric motorbikes. Through this study, Yamaha received data about the price range and what consumers expect.

"As you can see in Indonesia, the E-01 market test is still ongoing," he added.

He further revealed that in several other countries such as Taiwan, Japan and Europe there are already electric motorbikes on the market. The most important thing, according to him, is that Yamaha's position of carbon neutrality is very important.

"In other countries such as Taiwan, Japan or Europe and Vietnam, there is already an EV in the market and we collect a lot of information from there. After we feel that the Indonesian market has been concrete, it will definitely be prepared," he concluded.
