Police Arrest Motorcyclist Shooting Perpetrator In Wukir, Batu City, The Motive Feeling Picked Up

The Batu City Police (Polres), East Java arrested MS (52), a suspect in the shooting of a US motorcyclist (38), on Jalan Wukir, Batu District, Temas Village.

Batu City Police Chief AKBP Andi Yudha Pranata said MS was arrested shortly after the shooting of the victim.

"The Batu City Police Criminal Investigation Unit team assisted by the East Java Regional Police coordinated and found him in Singosari District, Malang Regency in less than 7 hours from the incident," Andi said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 11.

The police also confiscated a number of evidences of the suspect's crime, namely one homemade weapon, one homemade weapon without a handle, 43 bullets measuring 5 millimeters, one spring, one gas casing, and three reactive ammunition.

"One two-wheeled vehicle is black without a black license plate and helmet used by MS at the time of the incident," he said.

The shooting by MS is not only this once, but has been done twice.

"The suspect and the victim do not know each other," he said.

The first action took place on October 1, 2024, with the location of the crime scene (TKP) at an intersection around the Pusdik Arhanud area, Junrejo District, Batu City.

After nine days or on October 10, 2024, MS again carried out a shooting on Jalan Wukir or to be precise in front of the Temas Village office.

Andi stated that the suspect targeted the victim randomly, two shootings at different locations based on the same motive, namely feeling followed.

"The first incident of the victim riding a motorcycle, MS felt grabbed and immediately took the weapon out of the bag. The two victims of the crime scene picked up his wife, the perpetrator again felt that the victim was being followed and grabbed by the victim, so he turned around and then shot the victim," he said.

The police also plan to conduct an examination of the suspect's mental condition.

Regarding weapons, the police found that it was assembled by MS himself. He is known to have purchased a number of equipment online from a person with the initials EK at a cost of around Rp. 2.7 million.

The suspect also learned to assemble weapons from a social media account owned by a person with the initials M.

"Our suspect is temporarily ensnared by the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 in conjunction with Article 351 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code, but we are coordinating with the prosecutor's office for a more appropriate article, because the act is repeated," he said.

Previously, a two-wheeled vehicle driver was the victim of a shooting by an unknown person while crossing Jalan Wukir, Batu District, Temas Village, on October 10, 2024.

At the time of the incident, the victim who was riding with his wife and children at that time.

The victim suffered an injury to the upper left side of the chest and was immediately taken to Hasta Brata Hospital, Batu City for intensive care.
