The Main Perpetrator Of The Murder Of A Junior High School Student In Palembang Was Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison

PALEMBANG - The Panel of Judges at the Palembang Class IA District Court (PN) sentenced a child to 10 years in prison in conflict with the law (ABH) as the main perpetrator with the initials IS who killed a junior high school student at TPU Tionghoa Palembang, South Sumatra, on August 31, 2024.

"Imposing a sentence of 10 years in prison for children in conflict with the law (ABH) and one year in training at the Palembang City Social Service," said the Panel of Judges at the trial at the Palembang District Court as reported by ANTARA, Kamsi, October 10.

After that, the judge gave the public prosecutor (JPU) and ABH's legal team, and both parties expressed their next stance to think about it.

Meanwhile, three other ABH, namely MZ, NS, and AS have also been proven to have committed a criminal act of forcing the victim to have intercourse.

The judge ordered the three ABHs to take part in formal education held by the government at the Social Welfare Organization (LPKS) Indralaya Ogan Ilir.

The verdict given by the judge was different from the demands given by the public prosecutor in the previous trial.

The judge is of other opinion that imprisonment is not the right place for ABH because of his young age. The main actor or main actor in the case, namely IS, was demanded the death penalty by the prosecutor. Meanwhile, MZ was sentenced to 10 years in prison, then NS and AS were sentenced to five years in prison.

Meanwhile, after the trial of the victim's family attorney Zahra Amalia said that his party regretted that the verdict from the panel of judges against the main perpetrator of IS was far from the demands of the prosecutor who demanded the death penalty.

Even though ABH was proven to have committed this heinous act and also ABH's parents did not want to apologize to the victim's family.

His party also questioned if indeed coaching rehabilitation was needed, why in just one year.

"Even though everything was proven to have done that, we were disappointed, regretted the judge's decision," he said.

The next step, his party hopes that the prosecutor will appeal the case.

Previously, the murder of a junior high school student with the initials AA was carried out by four suspects, namely IS, aged 16 years was the main actor, MZ (13 years), MS (12 years), and AS (12 years) at TPU Chinese Palembang, August 31, 2024.
