Bayu Adityawan's Death In Palu Police Prison Rises Investigation, 2 Police Allegedly Involved

Central Sulawesi Police said the case of Bayu Adityawan's death, which is a prisoner of the Palu Police, has now gone up to the investigation stage.

"As explained by the regional police chief, Bayu Adityawan's death was handled in connection with a violation of the code of ethics and at the same time a general crime," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Sulawesi Police, Kombes Djoko Wienartono, in Palu, Antara, Thursday, October 10.

During the investigation, his party carried out two police officers who were in charge of guarding the Palu Police detainees, namely members with the initials Bripda CH and Bripda M who were suspected violators.

Both have been detained for 20 days since September 28, 2024 for the purpose of developing the case, but both of them are not yet suspects.

"Until now, the Propam Division of the Central Sulawesi Police has examined 26 witnesses," he said.

He explained that the overall handling of cases for the death of the Palu Police detainee was taken over by the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, so far his party has carried out a number of examinations and in the future it will continue with pre-reconstruction.

"In the near future, the Central Sulawesi Police will also conduct a case title in the interest of naming a suspect in this case," said Djoko.

He added that after the determination of the suspect later, in the next few days the status of the personnel involved in the case will indirectly change.

"After determining the suspect, the status in question will be transferred to Central Sulawesi Police custody," he said.

He ensured that the legal process was still carried out according to procedures, and his party was committed to revealing the truth in the case of the death of a Palu Police detainee.

This case has attracted public attention, and further developments will continue to be conveyed by the Regional Police, along with the ongoing investigation process.

"Our move is part of efforts to maintain the integrity and public trust in the Polri institution," he said.
