Gunzilla Games Launches 'Off The Grid' On PlayStation And Epic Game Store
JAKARTA - Gunzilla Games has just launched an early access version of their latest battle royale game entitled Off the Grid. The game is available on the PlayStation 5 and Epic Game Store, offering graphic quality and gameplay that is equivalent to AAA standards. By involving big names such as Oscar nomination director Neill Blomkamp, Off the Grid presents a big vision that is expected to change the blockchain-based gaming landscape.
Reporting from The Block, Gunzilla Games, founded by Neill Blomkamp, brings a big vision for the game Off the Grid. The game allows players on platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and PC to trade in-game assets. This makes Off the Grid one of the first games to offer onchain features on PlayStation and Xbox, giving players more freedom in managing their assets.
The in-game assets will use GUNZ blockchain technology, built on Avalanche L1. This technology allows developers to build an economy that is fully controlled by players, by giving full ownership of assets in games that can be traded in NFT form. However, it is not yet clear when players will be able to fully enjoy the NFT trading feature on Off the Grid.
As another big step, Gunzilla has also partnered with the OpenSea NFT marketplace. Last April, OpenSea agreed to integrate the GUNZ blockchain, which will allow OpenSea players and users to trade NFT items in any game built on the blockchain, with the GUN token as an exclusive asset for transactions.
The initial launch was announced directly by Blomkamp on platform X (formerly Twitter), along with the release of the game's official trailer. Apart from being one of the founders of Gunzilla, Blomkamp also acts as the chief creative officer at the company.
The development of Gunzilla Games in the blockchain gaming realm is also supported by large funding. Earlier this year, they managed to raise 30 million US Dollars (approximately IDR 470 billion) led by CoinFund and Avalanche's Blizzard Fund. Last month, Mariju Ventures, one of the crypto venture investors, announced that they are the largest validators in the Gunzilla ecosystem and the GUNZ blockchain platform.
With the presence of Off the Grid, the blockchain-based gaming industry seems to be even more attractive, especially with the great potential offered for players to engage in a fully decentralized digital economy.
