SAR Team Finds The Body Of A Climber From Jakarta On Mount Rinjani

The joint SAR team managed to find the body of Kaifat Rafi Mubarok (16), a climber from Jakarta who was reported missing after falling into a ravine in the Mount Rinjani area, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), while climbing.

"The victim was found dead. The victim's body was successfully detected by the thermal drone on Tuesday (8/10) at around 10.30 WITA at a depth of hundreds of meters from the scene," said Head of the Mataram SAR Office Lalu Wahyu Efendi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 8.

After Kaifat's body was found, the main focus of the team at this time was to evacuate. This evacuation process takes quite a long time, given the very steep terrain and uncertain weather conditions.

"Of course, everything must be prepared carefully to ensure the evacuation process runs smoothly and safely," he said.

Previously, the search for Kaifat, who has been reported missing since September 29, 2024, had been extended three days after a week-long search effort yielded no results.

"The joint SAR team continues to make maximum efforts by deploying various equipment, including the thermal drones, to speed up the search process," he said.

The victim reportedly fell with his colleague while climbing on Mount Rinjani, but the victim's colleague managed to survive and the victim reportedly disappeared after falling into a ravine in the Mount Rinjani area.

After receiving information on the incident, the joint SAR team together with joint officers from the Gunung Rinjani National Park (TNGR) conducted a search and the victim was found dead.
