Cak Imin And The Honoris Causa Title From Unair In Today's Memory, October 3, 2017
JAKARTA Memories of today, seven years ago, October 3, 2017, Airlangga University awarded politician Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imim) the Honoris Causa Doctor's degree in Sociology. The award was carried out because Cak Imin was considered to have contributed to educating the nation through his books.
Previously, Cak Imin was known to be an active student activist. His capacity as an activist made his uncle, Gus Dur attracted. He was invited to join the National Awakening Party (PKB) and become a representative of the people. Later he became the General Chair of PKB.
Cak Imin is not new to the world of national politics. The man who was born in Jombang on September 26, 1966 has been active as a student at Gadjah Mada University in 1985. He became part of the Movement of the Indonesian Islamic Student (PMII) and the Indonesian National Committee (KNPI).
His popularity as a student activist made his uncle, Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) attracted. Cak Imin was involved as a witness to the birth of PKB. He was also used as a potential party cadre. Alias, PKB needs a more progressive voice and performance of young people.
Ulam's beloved pinnacle arrives. Cak Imin was given the opportunity by PKB to enter politics by becoming a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 1999-2004 period. His performance as a representative of the people was stunning. Gus Dur just saw Cak Imin as a figure of PKB leader in the future.

This act was proven by Gus Dur's support for Cak Imin to become the General Chair of the PKB DPP. Cak Imin was supported by him to participate in the election at the PKB Congress II in Semarang in 2005. The election made Cak Imin above the wind because of Gus Dur's blessing.
Recently Gus Dur's trust in Cak Imin faded. Cak Imin is considered more pro to the authorities than to listen to Gus Dur's advice. Cak Imin is considered to have forgotten his dreams of fighting for many people. He is considered more ambitious in power. No more.
The PKB dualism also occurred. The PKB for Gus Dur's camp and the Cak Imin camp. At its peak, Cak Imin managed to bring his PKB which was recognized by the government. This condition raises protests from here and there. However, that's how politics is.
Sometimes he becomes a friend, sometimes he becomes an opponent. In fact, in the case of Cak Imin, the family could be an opponent. The controversy made Cak Imin able to advance to be polypolited by Indonesia. He has been appointed minister many times. However, he did not forget the side of the scholar. He still works by writing several books.
"Ah, loyal to himself, really. Right, talking only. I don't believe it because he's always two words. Well, his attitude is second to that, for me for PKB humans it becomes two groups. One, only remembers his own ambitions. Second, the public interest, including personal ambitions. So far, Muhaimin entered first, "said Gus Dur as quoted by Tempo magazine entitled History that Repeatedly (2008).
Unair Surabaya also tried to exclude all kinds of controversy from Cak Imin. They consider Cak Imin an important scholar in Indonesia. Contribution of knowledge is considered to be useful for the nation and state.
Cak Imin has also given birth to about eight books with various themes. This condition made Unair attracted to Cak Imin as the recipient of the Honoris Causa Doctorate's degree in Sociology on October 3, 2017.
Cak Imin is happy not to play. Moreover, seeing the selective traces of Unair give the honorary title. Cak Imin was only the fifth person to be given since the bonafit campus was established. However, not everyone agrees with the honorary title given to Cak Imin.
Many Unair lecturers and general audiences think that Cak Imin is not worthy of it. Cak Imin's work has no major influence. Unair also considers the wind to be oblique in comments regarding their capacity to provide honorary titles.
"Cak Imin is the 5th person to receive the honorary title after 63 years of the founding of Airlangga University. Honoris causa is an honorary title given by a university to someone who is considered to have contributed and worked extraordinary for science and mankind. Cak Imin is considered to have contributed in the social and academic fields with various social actions and books that have been produced, "wrote on the Unair page, October 3, 2017.
