Israel Confirms First Death Of Its Army In Battle In Lebanon

JAKARTA - The Israeli military confirmed the death of the first army in fighting in Lebanon.

A 22-year-old troop commander in the Israeli Defense Forces Brigade (IDF) 'flagged in fighting,' according to an Israeli military statement.

Hezbollah said they had previously clashed with Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. Israel did not say in Lebanon where the army was killed.

The Israeli military previously said it was carrying out close combat, destroying more than 150 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and letting terrorists in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah spokesman Mohamed Afif said his party clashed with Israeli forces in Aadeyseh. In a separate statement, he said clashes were also ongoing with Israeli soldiers in the village of Maroun Al-Ras, southern Lebanon.
