Israeli Soldiers And Hezbollah Clashes In South Lebanon

JAKARTA - Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters were involved in fighting in southern Lebanon. Israel had previously added troops on land operations in Lebanon which it claimed were limited.

Israel's Defense Forces (IDF) said they carried out close combat, destroying more than 150 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and letting terrorists in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah spokesman Mohamed Afif said his party clashed with Israeli forces in Aadeyseh. In a separate statement, his party said clashes were also ongoing with Israeli soldiers in the village of Maroun Al-Ras, southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on Hezbollah's claim.

Earlier the Lebanese military said Israeli military forces violated the border, reaching a distance of 400 meters to Lebanese territory before withdrawing.

Israeli enemy forces broke through the Blue Line about 400 meters into Lebanese territory in the Khirbet Yaroun and Aadeyseh regions, then withdrew after a while, the military said.

The Blue line refers to the border demarcation area that separates Israel and Lebanon.
