Joe Biden: Innocent People In Israel And Gaza Are Experiencing A 'Hell' Period
JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Joe Biden said innocent people in Israel and Gaza were going through a period of cheaming'. Biden called for ceasefire negotiations.
President Joe Biden lamented the death toll and suffering felt by innocent civilians on both sides of the Israeli-Gaza conflict while speaking at the UN General Assembly, Tuesday, September 24.
Biden referred to hundreds of civilians killed in a Hamas attack on Israel 11 months ago and many people being held hostage.
"I have met the families of the hostages. I am saddened by them," Biden said.
"They are going through hell," he said.
Innocent civilians in Gaza also experience hell. Thousands of people were killed, including aid workers. Too many families fled, gathered in tents, and faced a terrible humanitarian situation," he said.
Regarding the weakening ceasefire agreement, Biden said it was time for the parties to finalize their terms, repatriate the hostages and strengthen security for Israel and Gaza free from the influence of Hamas.
"Relieve the suffering in Gaza and end this war," he said.
