Good Friday Mass And Easter Day Are Strictly Guarded, There Are Screenings At The Entrance To The Prohibition Of Motorcycling

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police will implement a screening at the entrance area of a number of churches that will carry out the Good Friday service until Easter Sunday, April 2-4.

Central Jakarta Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Hengki Haryadi, explained that increased security was carried out following the suicide bombing in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church, Sunday, March 28 yesterday.

His party has studied the mode commonly used by terrorists. "Especially at the church, we will carry out strict entry screening at the entrance for the congregation. Of course, there are no motorbikes allowed to pass there," said Police Chief Hengki Haryadi after the Security Alert Ceremony at Monas.

Hengki explained that body system security would also be implemented, as well as the placement of temporary posts at churches that would hold mass services offline.

To keep the situation conducive, the National Police and the National Army will also involve religious leaders, independent security, including the community to dialogue together to maintain order in places of worship, especially churches.

In improving security, Hengki admitted that he did not add personnel in Central Jakarta, but there would be assistance from Metro Jaya Police personnel if needed.

According to Hengki, the National Army-National Police basically carried out security in all places of worship, but this would be specifically for churches, given the recent threat of crime directed at the church.

"We learn every week, there are an analysis and evaluation, including today led by the Head of Regional Police, about which 'strong points' we improve, what steps are based on intelligence and public information," said Hengki.

In line with that, the Commander of Military District Commando (Dandim) 0501/JP BS, Colonel Inf. Luqman Arief said that anticipation was carried out because it did not rule out the possibility of the threat of terrorism occurring in the Central Jakarta area. Apart from churches, regional patrols will also be secured in economic centers.

"In Central Jakarta, the point of heavy responsibility lies in the church. We will also patrol all places of worship, including economic centers that we sometimes forget to secure, we will keep safe," he said.
