KPK Reminds Kaesang To Live Simple Life: Ketum Political Parties Can Be Role Models

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded Kaesang Pangarep to live a simple life. As Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), he should be a role model for preventing corruption.

This was conveyed by Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata in response to the polemic of Kaesang traveling to the United States on a private jet allegedly facilitated by other parties. He said that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son should practice efforts to prevent corruption, especially since PSI has participated in the Smart Political Education program with Integrity.

"We encourage Kaesang's brother so that in his daily life behavior as well as the head of political parties he can also become a role model, an anti-corruption value. What is one of them? Simple life," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 30.

Meanwhile, regarding the private jet that Kaesang uses, Alexander said a request for clarification would be made. "Why do we need an explanation from Kaesang's brother regarding this matter, because we suspect it is suspected that it has something to do with state officials. We know that Kaesang's parents are like that," he said.

Alexander said this process is important so that this polemic can be clear in the end. He also said that the KPK has the right to follow up, especially since there have been reports from the public.

If the KPK does not clarify, this can be a mode to launder money or whatever it takes. Or assets. If we get information from the public like that, and we don't clarify, it's not true either," he said.

"We know that bribery or gratification is also usually not given directly to state officials. In various facts of the trial, it was revealed that the receipt of gratuities or bribes was in the name of other people," continued Alexander.

As previously reported, Kaesang Pangarep, who is the youngest child of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his wife, Erina Gudono, is in the spotlight for boarding a private jet to the United States. In addition, Jokowi's son-in-law also uploaded a luxurious lifestyle while in the US.

Erina at that time did not only upload the moment of boarding a plane to the United States. He also uploaded a photo of eating bread for Rp. 400 thousand and a baby streller allegedly for tens of millions of rupiah.

The two were also highlighted after allegedly carrying luxury groceries from the United States without Customs and Excise checks. In the video circulating, both of them got off the Gulfstream N568SE jet directly to the Toyota Alphard car parked on the plane's apron.
