Police Officer With The Rank Of AKBP In Aceh Sued 12 Years In Prison For Drug Cases
The Banda Aceh District Prosecutor's Public Prosecutor charged a middle-ranking police officer with a 12-year prison sentence for being proven to be involved in the abuse of methamphetamine.
The demand for punishment was read out by Public Prosecutor (JPU) Yuni Rahayu at the trial at the Banda Aceh District Court in Banda Aceh, Thursday, August 29.
The trial with the panel of judges was chaired by Said Hasan, and accompanied by Zainal Hasan and Zulkarnain, each as member judges.
The defendant on behalf of Aji Purwanto with the rank of AKBP was present at the trial accompanied by his team of legal advisors.
In addition to the defendant Aji Purwanto, the Public Prosecutor also charged the other police in the same case as the sentence of 12 years in prison. The defendant, on behalf of Samsuardi, has the rank of adjunct inspector of police one (aiptu).
In this case, the Public Prosecutor also charged two other defendants from civilians, namely Murdani and Suwandi, with a sentence of 15 years each.

In addition to imprisonment, the Public Prosecutor demanded that the defendants pay a fine of Rp. 1 billion each with a subsidiary or compensation if they do not pay for six months in prison.
"The defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics. As well as Article 127 Paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 35 Year 2009 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code," said the Public Prosecutor.
Based on the facts at the trial, said the prosecutor, the defendants were involved in drug abuse of methamphetamine weighing up to 100.51 grams. The prohibited items were purchased by the defendant in Bireuen Regency, in early January 2024.
