The Constitutional Court Simulates Handling 324 Disputes Over The Results Of The 2024 Regional Head Elections
JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) predicts that there will be 324 cases of dispute over the results of regional head elections (pilkada) that will be included in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada which will be held in 545 districts/cities in 37 provinces in Indonesia.
MK spokesman Fajar Laksono said the figure is a projection if you reflect on the dispute over the results of the previous regional elections. He also said that the Constitutional Court had prepared a simulation to handle the 324 cases.
"We predict to use the assumption that the number of cases in the previous election, then accumulated, censored, approximately from 545 [regional] we prepared 324 cases that we simulated for us to handle," Fajar said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 28.
According to Fajar, this number could be reduced or increased, given the dynamics of this year's regional elections.
"Moreover, seeing today's political contestation which could be more than one candidate pair, for example in one election, it could affect the number later," he said.

On the other hand, Fajar said this year was the first time the Constitutional Court had handled the dispute over the election results or Dispute over the Regional Head Election Results (PHPKADA) which was held simultaneously.
"Indeed, this is the first experience for the Constitutional Court to handle cases of dispute over the results of simultaneous regional elections that are really simultaneous. Yesterday, it was simultaneous, but gradually. This is the first experience for the Constitutional Court to handle disputes over the results of the regional elections which are really simultaneous," he said.
Fajar said the Constitutional Court would deploy a bigger effort than the dispute over the results of the previous regional elections.
"We prepared it earlier, we simulated 324 from the process of accepting applications, trials, to decisions so far it is still safe. In essence, no matter how many cases, God willing, the Constitutional Court is ready because it is the responsibility or authority of the Constitutional Court," he said.
