Vice President Of Trisakti: Precision Limited To Narratives
JAKARTA - Deputy Student President (Wapresma) Trisakti University, Ardhi Ramadhana Pamungkas spoke about the attitude of law enforcement officers who carried out repressive actions against demonstrators at the DPR RI building, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.
According to Ardhi, the police should protect the community and stabilize the atmosphere when there has been a riot. However, in fact they actually attacked the demonstrators so that the situation at the location became tense.
My response to the TNI-Polri cannot be justified either, it can be blamed. I think the authorities should protect it, but in fact they don't. So in our opinion, the Precision is only a narrative, it's not really applied," said Adhi when confirmed, Friday, August 23.
Ardhi also revealed that if actually the students who took part in the demonstration wanted to discuss finding a solution so that there would be no chaos. However, the authorities refused to hold the discussion.
The students held a demonstration to discuss with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). However, continued Ardhi, law enforcement actually carried out acts of violence against the demonstrators when they wanted to express their aspirations in front of the DPR Building.
"I think it's a natural thing when the demonstration is vandalism, but it can't be justified either. But yesterday's case we negotiated well, from them they couldn't be discussed. So it's normal for people to be angry," he said.

"Actually, here the Indonesian House of Representatives initially provoked those who did not want to listen to their aspirations. The people must be provoked to be upset. After all, don't do repressivity, (the police) must calm the masses, not disperse the masses," he continued.
Regarding the demonstrators who set fire to public facilities, for Ardhi, it was something that was natural when their aspirations were not heard.
"This is one of the functions of the forerunners of the TNI-Polri. What the authorities should protect. In fact, it doesn't protect it," he concluded.
Demonstrations at the DPR RI building ended in chaos. A number of public facilities were burned by the masses. When entering the end of the demonstration, the police forcibly dispersed by repelling the masses in front of the DPR RI Building, Central Jakarta.
