12 Members Of The Central Jakarta Police Were Hit By Stone Loops While On Guard At The DPR RI Building

JAKARTA - At least 12 members of the Central Jakarta Metro Police were injured as a result of clashes with the "Emergency Warning" demonstration that took place around the DPR/MPR RI Building on Thursday, August 22.

Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Ipda Ruslan Basuki, said that a team of members were injured as a result of being hit by stones from protesters.

"A total of 12 people were injured. (hit) Stone loops from the mass," said Ruslan, confirmed, Friday, August 23.

Members who were victims of stone throws immediately received medical treatment.

Reportedly, a joint mass of a number of student elements and the community who held an action at the Pancasila Gate, Jalan Gerbang Pemuda, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, was involved in clashes with the authorities, Thursday afternoon, August 22. Clashes broke out at 17.32 WIB.

The mob threw stones and other objects at the authorities. Meanwhile, the authorities returned by spraying water from water cannon vehicles.

Water cannon spraying was carried out to break up the riots from the mass demonstration. As a result, the crowd had time to retreat back until it was scattered to the side fence of the Pancasila Gate.
