JAKARTA - The South Korean government (South Korea) approved Indonesia's proposal to adjust the financing for the KF-21 Boramae Indonesian fighter aircraft (KFX/IFX) project from an initial commitment of 1.6 trillion won or around Rp. 18.5 trillion to 600 billion won or around Rp. 6.95 trillion.

He continued that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia is also currently negotiating cooperation over the technology transfer of the cooperation project for the manufacture of fighter aircraft after adjustments.

South Korean News Agency Yonhap last week (16/8) reported that the Defense Project Promotion Committee committee in South Korea, which is in charge of the defense equipment cooperation project, approved Indonesia's proposal regarding the adjustment of the payment for the KFX/IFX fighter aircraft development project.

Thus, for the portion of payments that are no longer Indonesia's responsibility, as reported by Yonhap, it will be borne by the South Korean Government and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) which are currently Indonesia's partners in developing 4.5 KF-21 Boramae-generation fighter aircraft.

The cooperation in making the KF-21 Boramae fighter jets was launched in 2015, and is targeted for completion in 2026.
