Ridwan Kamil Asks To Be Called "Bang Emil"
JAKARTA - The candidate for DKI Governor Ridwan Kamil (RK) asked to be called "Bang Emil" to adjust the character of the people of Jakarta ahead of this year's DKI Regional Head Election (Pilkada).
"According to the place, if the wife calls Aa, in the village Kang is called, but here it is more suitable to be called Bang," said Ridwan Kamil as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 20.
Ridwan said this in an activity organized by the Young Space with the theme "Hope for Young People for New Government".
Ridwan Kamil admitted, rather than being called "Kang Emil", he expressed his desire to be called "Bang Emil".
"The greeting "Bang Emil" is more in accordance with the culture and customs in Jakarta," said the Governor of West Java for the 2018-2023 period.
A total of 12 political parties officially signed a support charter to carry Ridwan Kamil-Suswono as a candidate pair in the 2024 Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor Election on Monday (18/8).
The parties are the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the Prosperous Justice Party, the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party, the Indonesian Solidarity Party, the Democratic Party, the National Mandate Party, the Garuda Party, the Gelora Party, the Perindo Party and the United Development Party.

They stated that political parties are members of the New Jakarta Coalition for Advanced Jakarta.
The 12 parties are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus, which is a coalition party supporting Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming in the 2024 presidential election.
In the declaration, RK has prepared technical solutions to overcome flooding and air pollution in Jakarta as a promise if it wins the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada).
Other problems such as pollution, stress workers due to unproductive mobility as well as houses and workplaces are far apart.
The regional elections to elect governors, regents, and mayors will be held simultaneously in all regions on November 27, 2024.
