Good News, Erick Thohir Opens Vaccination Center In Surabaya Next Week

JAKARTA - The State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) Ministry will expand the COVID-19 mass vaccination service post to the City of Surabaya, East Java, starting next week, as an effort to accelerate the herd immunity target against the disease.

"We have opened a joint vaccination center in Semarang from March 21 to May 21, 2021. God willing, next week in Surabaya", said BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in an online discussion entitled "Indonesian Health Resilience and Independence", quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 25.

The vaccination center is part of an effort to accelerate and expand the coverage of the national vaccination program and facilitate public access to COVID-19 vaccine services.

Erick added that his party is targeting the implementation of the vaccination program to take place in five cities, namely Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Bandung, and Tangerang, Banten, with a service target of 5.000 people per day at each point.

Currently, the Ministry of BUMN is implementing a vaccination program in Jakarta and Semarang.

Vaccination locations in Jakarta are located at Istora Senayan and Tennis Indoor Gelora Bung Karno, starting from March 8 to May 10. Meanwhile, the location of vaccination activities in Semarang is located in the Center for Recreation and Development Promotion (PRPP) Complex.

On the other hand, in an effort to procure vaccine needs for government programs, the Ministry of BUMN through PT Bio Farma (Persero) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) regarding the implementation of mutual cooperation vaccination activities.

Through this collaboration, the government opens opportunities for private companies to participate in the vaccination program by providing free vaccines for employees and their family members.

"The mutual aid vaccine program is targeted to target 10.1 million people. We hope that the herd immunity target in Indonesia can be achieved soon", said Erick Thohir.
