There Is Already A Letter Of Extension Of Detention, The Defendant In The Corruption Case Of KONI Kudus Refuses To Attend The Trial

The defendant Imam Triyanto refused to attend the trial of the Kudus KONI corruption case that ensnared him at the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java, Wednesday, August 14.

The defendant Imam, who is the chairman of the Kudus KONI, refused to attend on the grounds that his detention period had expired.

"We have tried to present it, but the defendant objected," said Public Prosecutor Haris Abdurohman Ibawi in a trial chaired by Chief Judge Siti Insirah, Wednesday, August 14.

In fact, he continued, the detention extension letter had been submitted to the defendant on Wednesday morning.

The defendant's legal adviser, Aksin, said his client should have been released from detention because his detention period had expired.

Imam Triyanto's detention period has expired since August 10, 2024 and has not received an extended notification letter since then.

Regarding this problem, Chief Judge Siti Insirah said the detention extension was carried out automatically through the Integrated E-system.

"This system can be accessed by interested parties, by the prosecutor, by the prison, by the defendant," he said.

In addition, the detention extension letter also did not have to be submitted to the defendant.

Due to this condition, the judge ordered the prosecutor to present the defendant at the trial on August 21, 2024, to be heard.

Separately, the Head of the Kudus Prosecutor's Office, Henryadi W. Putro, said that the absence of the defendant was only a technical problem.

"We will present the defendant at the trial the following week," he said.

Previously, the former chairman of the Kudus Regency KONI, Imam Triyanto, was tried on suspicion of corruption in grant funds for the parent organization of these sports branches to cost the state Rp2.3 billion for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 budgets.
