Poltracking Survey Winning The Alfius Way - Husein Totarago Pair In The 2024 South Sorong Regency Election
JAKARTA - The election for the Regional Head (Pilkada) of South Sorong Regency, which is scheduled for November 27, 2024, is approaching its peak. Based on the latest Poltracking survey released in July 2024, the pair Alfius Way and Husein Totarago temporarily lead with an electability rate of 20.8 percent.
In second place, the pair Petronela Krenak and Mathinus Maga received 17.9 percent support, followed by the pair Dance Nauw and Barbelina Aifufu who took third place with 16.7 percent electability. Furthermore, the Yance Salambau and Ahmad Samsudin pair are in fourth position with 16.3 percent electability. Meanwhile, the Paulinus Kora and Jonantan Salambauw pairs are in the lowest position with electability of only 0.6 percent.
The Poltracking survey also noted that 17.9 percent of respondents had not made a choice or were still hesitant in supporting one of the candidate pairs in the 2024 South Sorong Regency Pilkada.
This survey was conducted using a multistage random sampling method and involved 400 respondents who are residents of South Sorong Regency who already have the right to vote. With a margin of error +/- 4.9 percent and a 95 percent confidence level, this survey provides an overview of the current voter preferences. The interview was conducted face-to-face on July 13-22 2024 by a surveyor who has received special training. To ensure data validity, the results of this survey are compared to demographic data from the census of the Central Statistics Agency in 2020.

In addition to the electability level, this survey also measures the popularity and acceptability of the candidates. In terms of popularity, Yance Salambau is the most known candidate to the public with a percentage of 80.4 percent, followed by Dance Nauw (74.7 percent) and Alfius Way and Ahmad Samsuddin who both received 71.8 percent. Other candidates, such as Petronela Krenak and Mathinus Maga, also have a fairly high level of popularity.
Alfius Way responded to the results of this survey with optimism. "Maybe from the level of popularity I am not the highest. However, my partner, Pak Husein, made a significant contribution so that we led the survey," said Alfius in a written statement received by VOI Wednesday, August 14.
In terms of acceptability, Yance Salambau again occupies the top position with a public acceptance rate of 70.5 percent, followed by Dance Nauw with 68.3 percent, and Petronela Krenak with 66.3 percent.
"So far, there have been other candidates who have asked me to resign, but I emphasize that I will not back down a few from this nomination. Apart from Golkar, we are also seeking support from PKB to ensure that tickets run in the South Sorong Pilkada," said Alfius.
