With A Prize Of IDR 1.6 Billion, Alternative Film Awards Support Sineas Indonesia Which Has A Vision
JAKARTA - Alternative Film Project, a global non-profit film initiative founded by international technology company inDrive, will host its second event, the Alternata Film Awards in Indonesia, to maximize support for the development of the local film industry.
"We are very excited to welcome talented local filmmakers who may find it difficult to find exploration space and space to enjoy their work. We are also excited to see the excitement of Indonesian filmmakers who have sent their work," said Liza Heavennova as Project Head of Alternative Film.
The event, which is nomad or moving around, aims to give awards for the social impact of developing industrial films. The Alternativa Film Awards will be held at the end of November 2024.
On this occasion, the Alternata Film Awards were present as an expansion of the program in the previous year, as well as launching a new festival and awards event in Indonesia, which will screen all selected films from the nominees.
We have heard a lot of potential in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia as a producer of visual works with foreign quality. That is why we chose Indonesia and especially all filmmakers in Southeast Asia to submit their best work at the Alternative Film project 2024," added Liza.
The winners of the Alternative Film Project will be selected by an International jury consisting of Asian film directors and producers and other regions, as well as community leaders and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
This event presents an alternative system to reward professionals who have a vision to create impacts, by making them more visible on a global scale and providing a way to reach a wider audience.
The jury will announce winners who will get prizes in the form of cash, which can be useful and used in program/coup that has an impact or further development of filmmaking skills.
The total prizes reached 100,000 US dollars (Rp1.6 billion), with each winner getting 20,000 US dollars (Rp327 million) which will be awarded for four long film categories, and US$10,000 (Rp163 million) each for two winners in the short film category.
The new festival accompanies all the nominations, which will take place throughout the week before November 2024 and marks the evolution of the project in the Alternative film initiative, which also includes education and outreach of assistance through Alternata Film Labs.
