Google Meet Will Release AI-Based Recording Features

JAKARTA After testing the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based recording tool for several weeks, Google will release this feature on Google Meet. This new feature was launched under the name Take Notes for Me. This feature builds on the AI Duet and is available on Google Workspace Labs. In the near future, Takes Notes for Me will be rolled out to all Workspace subscribers with add-on Gemini Enterprise, add-on Gemini Education Premium, and add-on AI Meetings & Messaging. Through the Workspace update page, Google says that this feature can automatically record during the meeting. Results from the listing will be directly saved on its meeting organizer's Google Drive account. "Admin can now configure whether their users can use this Google AI listing feature with a new Admin Konsol suit," Google explained. In other words, this feature needs to be activated by admin first.

To configure the suit in Console Admin, admin can open the Google Workspace menu within the app, then select Google Meet and click Gemini settings. Next, enable the Let People Use Google AI Note-taking in Meetings. "Similar to the Admin transcript Meet settings, this control gives you more flexibility to test features within certain Organizational Units (OU) or Groups before implementing the feature more broadly in their organization," Google said. Take Notes for Me will launch on August 13 and is expected to be completed on August 21. If this feature is not seen during the meeting held, the admin that makes the meeting room may not activate or configure its features in Console Admin.
