Surya Paloh Respects Airlangga's Decision To Withdraw From The Golkar Chairman

Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, expressed great respect for Airlangga Hartarto's decision to resign from the position of General Chair of the Golkar Party.

Paloh will not comment further on the resignation of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs from the position of party leader.

Surya Paloh, who was also a member of the Golkar Party, said that the decisions in the party also needed to be respected.

"I will not comment on that. We give respect, appreciation to all," said Surya Paloh as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 12.

According to him, such a decision is a policy of each party. He also said that members of other parties were friends to him.

Previously, Airlangga Hartarto announced his resignation from the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP in Jakarta, Sunday (11/8).

Airlangga explained the reason for the resignation was because he wanted to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party and ensure stability during the transition of government from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to the President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim and on the instructions of God Almighty, I hereby declare my resignation as chairman of the Golkar Party DPP," Airlangga said in the video.

The Golkar Party's DPP Expert Council named a number of figures who have the potential to replace Airlangga as general chairman, including Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Bambang Soesatyo, Bobby Adhityo Rizaldi, and Firman Subagyo.
