Aburizal Bakrie Concerned Airlangga Hartarto Resigns
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Golkar Party Aburizal Bakrie admitted that he was concerned and understood the decision taken by Airlangga Hartarto to resign as General Chair of the Golkar Party.
"The Board of Trustees is concerned, but understands the decision taken by Airlangga to resign from the position of chairman," he said in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 12.
He believes that Airlangga's decision to resign as General Chair of the Golkar Party is carried out in order to prioritize the interests of the nation and state above personal and group interests.
Ical assessed that Airlangga's decision to resign from the party leadership chair bearing the banyan tree was because he wanted to focus on ensuring the stability of the transition of government from President Joko Widodo to Prabowo Subianto's government as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
In addition, Aburizal is also aware of the duties and complexity carried out by Airlangga as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Menko Perekonomian), so according to him Airlangga needs to be extra focused so that the government transition runs well.
"Airlangga wants to focus on the government as Coordinating Minister for the Economy considering that the challenges of the world economy in the future are also increasingly complex," he said

Apart from this, Aburizal expressed his highest appreciation for Airlangga's performance, which has been in charge of the Golkar Party since 2017.
He mentioned that during Airlangga's leadership, the Golkar Party managed to get an increase in votes in the 2024 Legislative Election.
"For this reason, the Board of Trustees appreciates Airlangga's achievements as the general chairman who succeeded in increasing the seats of the DPR from 85 to 102 or 18 percent of the votes in the DPR," he said.
In addition, continued Ical, Airlangga also won Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming in the 2024 presidential election.
"At the same time, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were elected president and vice president for the 2024-2029 period," he said.
Previously, Airlangga Hartarto announced his resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party starting Saturday (10/8) night.
Airlangga explained the reason he resigned was because he wanted to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party and ensure stability during the transition of government from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to Prabowo Subianto's government as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, as well as on the instructions of God Almighty, I hereby declare my resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP," Airlangga said in the video.
