Non-folding Bicycles Are Allowed To Enter MRT Today, Anies Joins The Experiment
JAKARTA - Starting today, PT MRT Jakarta allows passengers to enter folding and non-folding bikes onto the Integrated Moda Raya (MRT) train. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan took his bicycle to the MRT.
Anies arrived at Lebak Bulus Grab Station while carrying his bicycle. Anies was accompanied by Deputy Governor of DKI Ahmad Riza Patria, Regional Secretary of DKI Marullah Matali, and Head of DKI Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo.
Anies' group took the Ratangga train to the HI Roundabout Station at 06.44 a.m. local time. Arriving at the HI Roundabout Station, the group continued the journey to the City Hall of DKI Jakarta Province by bicycle.
"This morning, the Governor announced the implementation of the activity of providing non-folding bicycle access at the Jakarta MRT. We do this at three stations, namely Lebak Bulus Grab, Blok M BCA, and HI Roundabout", said PT MRT Jakarta President Director William Sabandar in his statement, Wednesday, March 24.
When trying to use the facility to bring bicycles on the MRT train, Anies gave a number of inputs, such as adding signage, queuing places, and socializing with the public.

Currently, PT MRT Jakarta provides non-folding bicycle access at three stations, namely Lebak Bulus Grab, Blok M BCA, and HI Roundabout.
At each of these stations, temporary parking facilities are also provided at a number of points such as around ticket vending machines, toilets, and prayer rooms.
However, non-folding bicycle users are only allowed to use the Jakarta MRT outside of peak hours (07.00-9.00 a.m. and 17.00-19.00 p.m.), use train number six in each series, and a maximum of four bicycles per departure.
MRT Jakarta also provides bicycle lanes located on station stairs and signs on stations and trains to make it easier for non-folding bicycles to cross the station stairs.
