Piles Of Used Wood In Empty Land In The Duren Sawit Area Burned, Panicns Afraid Of Fire Spreading

JAKARTA - A pile of used wood on an empty land on Jalan Persada RT 13/02, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, was scorched by fire on Wednesday, August 7. Local residents panicked, they were worried that if it was not extinguished immediately, the fire could spread to people's homes.

The fire, which was blazing, was finally extinguished by officers from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept.

Gulkatmat officers who arrived at the location were seen struggling to extinguish the fire that burned piles of used wood on the 90 square meter land.

In fact, thick smoke had enveloped the firefighters who were extinguishing the red rooster.

"What caught fire was piles of used wood. The cause is not yet known. Residents saw that there had been fire lighting and thick smoke," said one of the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers, Sukur S at the location of the fire.

According to him, his party deployed 12 fire engines with 60 personnel to extinguish the fire.

"A total of 12 fire engines were deployed to extinguish the fire," he said.

There were no casualties in the incident, but the loss was estimated at IDR 8 million.
