Bali Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Takes The Oath Of 12 Children Become Indonesian Citizens
DENPASAR - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province took the oath of 12 mulatto children to become Indonesian citizens (WNI) in order to provide legal certainty regarding citizenship status.
"Being an Indonesian citizen is not only about understanding and defending rights, but also about fulfilling obligations with full responsibility," said Head of the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office Pramella Province, Yunidar Pasaribu, Tuesday, August 6.
As many as 12 children from the marriage of the two countries were sworn in in the Dharmawangsa Room, the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office.
They are 10 children from a mixed marriage between Indonesian citizens and Japan, then a child from a marriage between Indonesian citizens and New Zealand and another child of Indonesian citizens and Italy.
Pramella emphasized the importance of instilling a sense of nationalism, upholding human values, dignity, and the dignity of the nation and state for every new Indonesian citizen to swear allegiance to Indonesia.
The Regional Head of the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights also reminded them to comply with the laws and regulations in force in Indonesia.
"Be a citizen who obeys the law and stay away from disgraceful acts," he said.
He also asked the new Indonesian citizen to be a positive example for the community, actively contribute to the development of the nation, and maintain the good name of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, based on the records of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights during January to June 2024, a total of 199 children were half-hearted who volunteered to become Indonesian citizens.

According to him, that number increased from the data during 2023 which reached 67 submissions to Indonesian citizens.
Previously, in 2022, it was recorded that there were two children with dual citizenship who volunteered to become Indonesian citizens.
Kakanwil estimates that the increase in application applications to Indonesian citizens is due to the submission period to become Indonesian citizens which ends on May 31, 2024, in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 21 of 2022.
Article 3A in Government Regulation Number 21 of 2022 states that children, as referred to in Article 41 of Law Number 12 of 2006 concerning Citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia, have not registered or registered but have not yet chosen citizenship, can apply for citizenship to the President through the minister.
Article 3A also regulates the details of the requirements to apply for citizenship.
Article 67A stipulates that the application is no later than 2 years after the PP is promulgated on May 31, 2022.
