Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture Muhadjir Claims National Unemployment Rate Drops

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy meg claims the national unemployment rate has decreased.

"From the data, the data has decreased. Nationally, it has decreased," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, August 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

Coordinating Minister Muhadijr said that an increase in unemployment in one city cannot be generalized as a reflection of unemployment at the national level.

As for tackling the unemployment rate in big cities, Coordinating Minister Muhadjir assessed the need for empowerment to create jobs in urban areas.

Previously, Deputy for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the absorption of labor in Indonesia was relatively good and could reduce the level of open unemployment.

However, according to him, the proportion of informal labor still dominates, even though what Indonesia needs in the future is an increase in productivity.
