Somali Beach Explosion Kills 8 People, Al-Shabaab Allegedly Biang Keladinya
Eight people were killed and 28 others injured in an explosion on the coast in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, on Friday, August 2 evening.
The so-called Somali state media attack was carried out by Islamist militants of the Al-Shabaab group,
Reported by Reuters on Saturday, August 3, the state news agency SONNA said five attackers from Al-Shabaab were killed in the hands of security forces. The sixth perpetrator blew himself up in the attack.

No party has yet claimed responsibility from the al-Shabaab group that has ties to Al Qaeda, which has also carried out similar attacks in the past.
The explosion occurred while residents were swimming on Lido beach, former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire said on his X account.
"The fact of a terrorist attack coincides with the night when the most densely populated coast shows the hostility of terrorists towards the people of Somalia," he added.
