KPU: 2024 Pilkada Debate Held Maximum 3 Times In Each Region

JAKARTA - Member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) August Mellaz said the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Election debate would be held a maximum of three times in their respective provinces or districts/cities.

"As regulated in Article 19 in this draft regulation, it is related to public debate or open debate with candidate pairs. In the context, if the information is, the election campaign debate is held three times at most," said Mellaz during a Public Test of the PKPU Draft on Regional Head Election Campaigns and the Draft PKPU for Regional Election Campaign Funds at the KPU RI Office, Jakarta, Friday, August 2, confiscated by Antara.

"Debats are prioritized to be held in their respective provinces or regencies and cities," he continued.

He acknowledged that there were a number of problems in the previous period of regional election debates, such as less supportive infrastructure to other relatively non-uniform needs.
