Russian Attack Kills Mother And Child In Ukraine's Nikopol

JAKARTA - A mother and daughter were killed by gunfire by a Russian attack that hit the city of Nikopol in the Dnipropxisk area east of Ukraine.

This is a tragic consequence of the shooting by Russia. They hit the city with a dozen bullets, said Nikopol governor Serhiy Lysak, as reported by Reuters on Thursday, August 1.

He said houses, fire stations, campuses, schools and buses were also damaged, without specifying the location of artillery fire.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the report.

Nikopol is located on the right side of the Dnipro River, whose left-hand edge was occupied by Russian troops at the start of their massive invasion in February 2022.

Prior to the war, Nikopol had a population of 105.000 people and was the fourth most populous city in the region.
