Google Updates Its Policies And Systems To Overcome Explicit Deepfakes

JAKARTA Technology is increasingly advanced and people in various parts of the world are increasingly getting to know Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the midst of increasing AI use, new forms of violence are starting to emerge. One of them is deepfake. Content created using this generative image can harm some parties because it produces fake images or videos that look genuine. Worse, deepfakes can create images or videos of sexual content. Deepfake content with sexual elements should not be circulating on the internet. Therefore, Google is updating the process of removing deepfake content and updating the rating system to prevent its content from popping up on Google Search. Google explains that the systems they are developing can now process requests to remove explicit and non-explict fake images or videos from Google Search. When reports are processed, the system will immediately filter its content. "If someone succeeds in requesting the removal of explicit non-consensual false content featuring them from Search, Google's system will seek to filter all explicit results on similar searches about them," Google said.

The system's actions when processing and accepting removal requests will be different. Once the request is received by the team from Google, the system Search uses will immediately scan the content and remove all duplicates of the image. "This protection has proven successful in dealing with other types of non-consensual images, and now we have built the same ability for false explicit images as well," Google explained. In addition, Google is updating the rating system in its search engine so that explicit fake content does not appear in the top search. If the user searches for its content by including the name, Google only displays non-explicit content. "With this change, people can read about the impact of deepfakes on society, rather than viewing pages with actual non-consequent false images," Google said.
