Spotify Restores Lirik Features For Free Users After U-Turn Decision
JAKARTA- Spotify has decided to return the lyric feature to users for free after previously charging subscription fees for access to the lyrics in last year's limited trial.
Previously, Spotify gave access to the lyrics, including the time-synchronized lyric update introduced in 2021, to all users. However, last year, Spotify conducted a trial by placing the lyrics behind the subscription payment wall, which made free users no longer able to see them. The trial initially looked successful, so Spotify launched it globally in May this year.

However, Engadget notes that the company has made the decision to reverse the policy. Previous free users could only follow the lyrics for three songs per month, but now Spotify is removing the limit. Free users can now see all the lyrics without restrictions.
"On Spotify, we always do testing and iterations. This means the availability of our features can vary between tiers and between markets and devices," a Spotify spokesperson was quoted by VOI as saying to Engadget. In the next few weeks, we will expand the availability of Lirik to Free Spotify users so that more people can enjoy seeing more lyrics globally."
